About Sunnyside Community Services Inc.

Serving families in Bonita and San Diego County with compassionate, reliable in-home respite since 2018.

Our Story

Sunnyside Community Services Inc. was founded in 2018 in Bonita, California, by Maria C. Parra. Born from a personal understanding of the challenges families face when caring for a loved one with a developmental disability, Sunnyside was created to fill a gap in the community: a local, dependable, and deeply caring provider of non-medical in-home respite.

Under Maria's leadership, what began as a small operation with a handful of dedicated respite workers has grown into a trusted name across San Diego County. In April 2026, Abraham Dominguez stepped into the CEO role, carrying forward Maria's vision while steering the company into its next chapter of growth and innovation.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple but meaningful: every caregiver deserves a break, and every person deserves compassionate support at home. We believe that staying in the familiar comfort of one's own home is the best outcome for individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and our communities alike. Our job is to make that possible.

Our Values

  • Compassion — We treat every client with the same warmth, patience, and respect we would want for our own family
  • Reliability — When we say we will be there, we are there. Families count on us, and we do not let them down
  • Integrity — We are honest, transparent, and accountable in every interaction, from the first phone call to the last visit
  • Quality — Every respite worker is trained, every respite plan is personalized, and every visit is documented and communicated
  • Community — We are rooted in Bonita and proud to serve the greater San Diego County area. Our success is tied to the well-being of our neighbors

Our Service Area

Sunnyside Community Services Inc. primarily serves the Bonita and South Bay communities, including Lemon Grove, Spring Valley, Alpine, and surrounding areas. However, our reach extends throughout all of San Diego County. Whether you are in an urban neighborhood or a more rural setting, our team is ready to bring compassionate care to your door.

Our Team Approach

At Sunnyside, no family is managed by a faceless corporation. CEO Abraham Dominguez oversees operations personally, working closely with every client and respite worker to ensure quality. Our respite team is small enough to provide personalized attention but large enough to offer reliable backup coverage at any time. When a family calls, they talk to someone who knows their situation — not a generic call center.

We believe that the best support is built on relationships. Our respite workers get to know your loved one's preferences, habits, and personality. Families get to know their respite workers by name. That human connection is what sets Sunnyside apart.
